Artist Sarah Li has asked us to share the message below, which we’re delighted to do:

Join us on Sunday 12th October 2025, 12 noon-10pm @TCR Hub Barnard Castle, for a brilliant, jam packed day of live music, art, creative workshops, food and more! And it’s all free! Just book a ticket via our event page here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/tcr-hub/queer-future-s-festival/e-dyavxy There will also be a shuttle bus running from Darlington at various points throughout the day, so fill in our travel form (available on the event page) if you would like to book onto a shuttle bus.

We are a youth led, LGBTQIA+ and family friendly music and arts festival, co produced between Unlearn and Publish (Bex Harvey and Sarah Li) and the young people from the community hubs at TCR Hub and Dawdon youth and Community Centre, County Durham.

We have a fantastic line up of brilliant bands with a wide array of music genres including: Colombian music (cumbia, porro and vallenato), punk, indie, folk/pop, experimental, jazz, drumming, inexplicable Darth Vader busking and more. We are hosting creative workshops that explore sound, print-making, music, food, craft and more.

Bang a drum in a percussion workshop lead by Brazilian Maracatu band, Baque de Ogum, or you can visit our clothes swap shop, where we will be offering a gender affirming alteration service live in house.

Finally, why not come help design a soundscape to be played on artist and musician Jamie Cook’s amazing, interactive light and surround-sound installation, AVAIS (Audio Visual Art Immersion System). If dancing is more your thing, you can come and strip the willow in our Ceilidh with the Music of the Heart of Teesdale band!

As part of the Festival we will also be exhibiting the ‘Room to Roam’ project, which is a colourful ‘gay shed’ interactive artwork that represents LGBTQIA+ and ally youth culture within a contemporary context. Created by the same community youth groups. The shed is part of a touring installation co produced by the young people and Beamish Museum.

This festival is generously supported and funded by No More Nowt.
