Darlington based artist, Julie MacBean, secured a residency at Teesside University’s Darlington campus, generating original work which was shared through the Start of the Line exhibition within Crown Street Art Gallery in 2013.
Julie’s first piece of work generated from the residency explored the unique view from Teesside University’s Darlington campus balcony overlooking the station. It was the interior of the station that became dominant in following work, with its magnificent steel structures and glass roof providing the artistic stimulation.
The Crown Street Art Gallery, programmed by Creative Darlington, has generated several new exhibitions and the development opportunities they provide for artists.
