Steam Railway is a project designed for learning history through drama. It is a celebration of the history of the first commercial railway line from Stockton to Darlington in 1825.
The young people taking part acted out devised drama scenes in front of a green screen. The footage was edited and chroma keyed in to montage of various backdrops in the County Durham area.
The train and horse and carriage in the film were cut out from old photographs using the open source software Inkscape. Everything was pulled together using Final Cut Pro x animation techniques.
